Hi,

I was eager to try out your plug-in but seem to be having a few problems.

I am running maya2008 extension2 on winxp 32 bit

I create a basic polySphere. I delete it's history
I then run the plug-in script
I load the object
Switch to edges mode and double click to select an edge loop.
If I try to shift mmb on an edge it doesn't turn white.
Ctrl and left mouse dragging does not select edges it just draws a marquee selection
When I then click Execute auto uv (in edge selection mode) I get a script proc error:

// Error: line 1: Cannot find procedure "rd_uv_tool_ui_store_uv_shader_info". //
// Error: line 1: This command requires at least 1 argument(s) to be specified or selected; found 0. //

If I execute in object selection mode then the uvs are unwrapped, but looks very incorrect and does not respect the selected edges. Probably because I couldn't select them with shift MMB.
However I still get the error:

// Error: line 1: Cannot find procedure "rd_uv_tool_ui_store_uv_shader_info". //
// Error: line 1: This command requires at least 1 argument(s) to be specified or selected; found 0. //

Well, those are some of the symptoms, but I guess there is something fundamentally wrong here that is stopping the functionality working.

I hope you can osrt it out, because this look potentially to be a very useful tool. Thanks for your efforts.

p.s. Also. Couldn't you fire up the help docs from the help menu in the UI? instead of having to go find them on the drive

neil

Thanks

Hi neil.

in order for you to mark edges you need to use the custom super selection tool. It seems from what you are saying that you are not using that and just using Maya's default selection tools.

also, if you imported an .obj there is a bug that will not allow you to mark. that is fixed in the next version.. but for now, just check off use reference in the obj import options.

and yes.. the unwrap will look bad because you did not mark edges.. that is needed.

if u did the install, you can get to help by going to start, programs, diamantuv 1.0.. and then help. you dont have to search your hard drive.

its not very simple to just add the link in the help since people could potentially just install the program to a different directory. that would cause the help to look in the wrong place. not sure really a solution to that as of now.

try what i mentioned above and see if you are still getting those errors. you really shouldn't be.

let me know..

ok, sorry about that. I didn't have the super selection mode selected. So I have now successfully unwrapped a sphere after selecting and marking edges.

However, super selection mode does not work unless I first select an edge in standard maya edge selection mode. Once I have and edge selected and then go into super selection mode, then I can drag select edges. If I want to select an unconnected edge(s) using shift-click then it won't let me and I have to go back to default maya edge selection before going back into super selection mode.
Also, in super selection mode when I have edges marked I cannot unmark them using ctrl-MMB.

Hope this is useful feedback.

Cheers,

neil

Thanks

neil.. are you just single clicking and expecting a selection? if you are, that will not work.. there is no single selection with the super selection. it requires a drag.. so for single selections, just hold down the mouse for a second and barely drag and you will be able to select a single selection.

you should not have to go back and forth between the two selection modes.

no, I am holding down the LMB and dragging, but no joy. I have tried shift and LMB dragging no works either. It seems that once some edges have been marked then no further edge selections can be made, or edges unmarked until the tool is re-instigated by going into maya edge select mode, then back into super selection mode.

Plug in loading problems.

// Error: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Strange that I got it to work on my work machine but upon trying to install it on my machine at home it won't fire up. If you could help me out or point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

Okay. I'm still trying to get this to work on my home machine. I'm running Maya 8.5 on a 32 bit machine. Again, when I go to load the plug-in in Maya it gives me this error: // Error: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
(Diamant_uv_85) //

The path is correct in the Diamant UV text file that gets thrown into the Maya 8.5 modules folder. I'm completely at a loss as to why it's failing to load.
