Its been a while but finally beta 1.2 is available. With it comes a bunch of new features, tons of bug fixes, and the first itteration of Modeling Tools. Look for news on the front page for links of video's showing off the new features as well as basic tutorials on how to use this new version.

There are really too many bug fixes and updates to type out here.. I've gone over most of them in the video's. Hopefully other people can do some tutorials as well. I know Christophe Desse did a tutorial using the 2009 version for his gnomon master class. You should check that out for some good hints on how to use this tool in production as well as some good information on Christophe's workflow in modeling and rendering.

I want to thank a bunch of people for making this release possible and also for helping test this tool throughout all the iterations to make it as stable and production ready as possible.

Thanks to Judd Simantov for always helping with the programming nightmares when I needed it. He's the man..
Thanks to Carlos Gonzalez for also helping with the programming end..
Thanks to Christophe Desse, Darcy Korch, and Hanno Hagedorn for always breaking the program and thinking of new and better ideas.

any questions feel free to ask..

this version is a little different on the download side. There is one zip that contains all the version on install. There are installation instructions in the zip files. PLEASE READ THEM!!

There is also a manual install for people who need it..

Just as a little side note: One will need the Visual Studio 2005 redistributables to run the plugin - they can be downloaded at:

Hi elvis,

I'm sorry to say that I can't really bypass the internet connection at this time. It is my source of protection for now. sorry for the inconvenience..

I think I loaded it all correctly and see it in my plug-in manager but I get this error "Error: Unable to dynamically load : C:/Program Files/Tools3d/DiamantUV/plug-ins/Diamant_uv_85.mll
The specified procedure could not be found." I tried loading
Visual Studio 2005 redistributables as mentioned by Bryon but no luck. Now I am using Maya 8.0 which I am hoping is not the problem. I watched all the videos and am just itching to try it. Any suggestions? Thanks :)

are you using 8.5 sp1 or regular 8.5? you might need to update to sp1.. let me know if this is not the case..

I am just using Autodesk® Maya®, Version 8.0. At least that is what is says under HELP About Maya. Where would I find out if I have sp1? I am assuming 8.5 is referring to a newer version of Maya than 8.0?

ahh.. gotcha.. you can't use a plug-in compiled for maya 8.5 with maya 8.. plugins are specifically compiled for versions of maya. you will need to get version 8.5sp1 or the other supported versions to use the plugin.. sorry for that..
does that make sense?
