So I followed the installation notes. I find it in my plug-in directory (I am allowed to check "auto=load', but not "load"). So now what? How do I load that window I see in the different videos? Am I supposed to run a command, or am I supposed to see it in my toolbar? Maybe it's just not working?

Oh, and I am using Maya 2009 on Vista 64bit. I saw a diamantUV_2009x64.mll in my plug-in directory, so that shouldn't be a problem should it?

Sorry if I am being noobish here, I tried to find a sticky. Honest!

[edit]

So I found out how you was supposed to do it on another computer. So when you press load, it will load a shelf-button. Well, that didn't work on the computer I am trying to make it work on. I press "load" I get this error message:

// Error: Unable to dynamically load : C:/Program Files (x86)/Tools3d/DiamantUV/plug-ins/Diamant_uv_2009x64.mll
//
// Error: //
// Error: (Diamant_uv_2009x64) //

That's ok. It wasn't that urgent. :)

First of all, I wouldn't know how to check that. But I've had no other problems running Maya.

I tried to load up the plug-in, and this time around, it seemed like it was able to load up the 32bit version. I could almost swear this didn't work before. Hopefully, I was just a total noob, and I won't have any more problems loading the plug-in. Looking forward to get started.

I'll just post in the same thread for a question.

I was just wondering how I turn of super selection. I try pushing the button again, but nothing happens. Rather frustrating, as I prefer using the classic selection method, but in classic mode, there's no way of marking the edges for UV-seams.

As of now, I personally feel the super selection tool is a bit bothersome to use. For a good UV-edge selecter, look at Unfold 3D, which in my opinion has the best selection algorithm for UV-ing.

you can use maya's tools for selecting, then go to the super selection and mark the edges while they are selected..

however, I am getting the feeling that maybe you are using it incorrectly.. what are you feeling is bothersome about it?

I've seen and used Unfold 3D's selection which is much slower and annoying personally.. I can mark and select about 10 times faster with the super selection. Maybe there is something you are not getting.. If you can explain your problems or frustrations I can try to help..

I still seem to have a problem that I can't go back again to normal selection mode without restart maya. I'm sure this must be a bug.

And of course, I realize that superselection is a good tool. You're an artist, and you tailored it after your needs. I see that. I just don't seem to get the get the hang of it. I've tried getting used to it, but to no avail.

Like the fact that a single left click selects an edgeloop. And how do I deselect induvidual curves? Also, the edge "sensetivity" is a bit finicky. Also, why not have the lasso tool when selcting faces? Never been a big fan of paintselecting faces, personally. You sould at leas include some way of using the lasso. (Or maybe I just oversaw something?) I'll watch some of your videos again, and keep at it. Thing is, I hate alternating between Unfold3D and Maya, so I really wanna learn this program.

Anyhoo, it's a very nice plug-in. fantastic UV-ing and UV-editing. But I just happen to love Unfold3D pathfinding algorithm (brilliant for organic edge selecting, imo), and can't quite wrap my head around superselection (and the fact that I can't turn it off).

Yeah, I just kind of wanted to reiterate what Angroc was saying. There should be a way to turn off the super selection mode once it is turned on.

Also, I think it would be cool if you didn't have to use it at all to mark your border edges. Like maybe add a "mark border edges" button right above the "execute auto uv" button.

The super selection is a tool like any other. You don't have to use it if you don't want. You can use mayas tools to select, then when they are selected, click on the super selection, and middle click to mark. There could be a button for marking, I don't dissagree with that. But I do promise you that once you get the hang off the super selection you will realize the power and speed of it. Give it a shot! And to get out of the tool just hit q.. No tool ever locks you in it in Maya..

Hey thanks I didn't know that hitting q would go back to regular selection. I was trying to hit the same button I used to turn it on in order to turn it off. There are things I like about it, but I'm used to the regular way of doing things. I'm sure I'll mess around with it more later.
